Don’t be afraid of starting your career at Salesforce
Grissell Cabrera
Today we are dedicating another of our success stories to Grissell Cabrera, who is not only a specialist in Salesforce technology but also one of the experts who train future professionals at ISDI CRM. More precisely, Grissell teaches the ADX201 (Salesforce Administrative Essentials in Lightning Experience) and DEX450 (Apex and Visualforce Development in Lightning Experience) training courses at ISDI CRM Mexico.
Grissell is currently a solutions architect, bringing Salesforce technology to Xertica customers. Xertica is a strategic consulting firm specialising in the digital transformation of leading organisations across Latin America through cloud-based solutions.
Grissell also has more than 13 years of experience in IT, where she started her career as an app developer and analyst. Her involvement in the Salesforce ecosystem is evident from her presence in the Women Who Code community and the Salesforce Administrators community in Monterrey.
From Mexico, where she grew up and pursued her career, Grissell tells us all about her relationship with Salesforce and offers some tips for future experts.
Tell us about your experience as a Salesforce Advocate at Xertica.
One of my roles within Xertica is to ensure the knowledge and certifications of employees, while helping them develop new skills on the Salesforce platform. I also help develop specialised courses for customers, whether for administrators or developers.
Could you also tell us about your role as the Director of ‘Women Who Code’ in Monterrey?
The main mission of Women Who Code is to inspire and support women to excel in technology careers. As director, one of my functions is organising conferences, workshops and tutorials to help further this mission. I think it is vital to increase the visibility of all the successes and triumphs that women achieve in the workplace. During these events we also look to build alliances and contacts that allow us to grow our community and reach out to more women.
How did you become a certified DEX450 and ADX201 Instructor and what has your experience as a teacher at ISDI CRM been like?
One of the things I enjoy most is delivering training. Earlier this year I had the opportunity to get certified for the DEX450 course and a few days ago I got certified for ADX201. This has been a big challenge for me and demanded considerable commitment to ISDI, as we support the growth of the ecosystem within Latin America. The best thing is knowing that the people who attend your course will be better prepared to meet the challenges that arise in their work.
I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to continue contributing to the training of the new talent that the market is calling for
Why do you think it is essential to get training in Salesforce technology today?
Demand for people with strong Salesforce skills is growing every day. The new normal has meant that companies around the world have had to shift their strategy towards the digital world and Salesforce has the products to support enterprises in implementing their strategy within a short timeframe. This is undoubtedly a huge opportunity for professional growth and development as it requires knowledge of business and technology.
What advice would you give to someone who is thinking about starting their Salesforce training?
Don’t be afraid of starting your career in Salesforce. It doesn’t matter if you haven’t finished university yet or you already have a career in some other technology. If you’re looking to grow professionally, Salesforce is unquestionably a great option with a promising future ahead. I used to code in a technology that was already obsolete in its time and switching to Salesforce was one of the best decisions I’ve made in my professional life, as it has allowed me to help many customers and meet great people.
And how would you jump in?
There are many options when it comes to starting your training. Whether with Trailhead, videos or face-to-face courses, don’t hesitate to join the community and embark on this new career.
Why do you think ADX201 training is necessary today in the Mexican market?
Personally, I believe the essentials are a key structure that guarantees you a successful start. So if your goal is to become a Salesforce expert you need to know the essentials in depth. With that in mind, ADX201 training should be your starting point. This course will give you an overview of the capabilities of the tool at administrator level, teach you its automation tools and how to generate results through reports and dashboards. Armed with this knowledge, your next step might be to get specialised in a specific Salesforce product or cloud, such as Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, etc.
And what are your views on the DEX450 training?
If your profile or plan is to master the platform from a more technical and coding side of things, you might want to consider complementing your essentials training with DEX450 certification. It will enable you to understand the Apex programming language and the elements the platform uses to manage its transactions at code level. This training is the first step on the path to becoming a technical architect.
