In this link you can check a detailed report about the most requested profiles in the Salesforce ecosystem and the companies that are using them, salaries, etcetera. You will see that there are career opportunities for Salesforce developers, something we are going to discuss in this article.

First of all: what is Salesforce?

Salesforce is the number 1 CRM globally according to Gartner and is the company which has occupied this place for the last eight years.

A great number of companies trust Salesforce to manage their relationships with clients, providers, students, patients, donors and, in general, all of those people they interact with. This allows them to collect all the details, centrally, about those interactions, speeding up the procedures related to these people. It also provides a 360º view of these relationships, helping to digitally transform these companies to make them more resilient, allowing them to adapt to the constant change in which we are immersed globally in the XXI century.

Salesforce combines in only one SaaS platform a modern user interface that adapts to the necessities of each user thanks to its AI engine called Einstein, a versatile and competent development platform, as well as many integration options.  It also has an ecosystem of business applications that cover a wide spectrum of needs: customer service, sales, marketing automation, analytics, web portals, integrations, communications, e-commerce… the list is constantly growing thanks to new applications developed by the manufacturer and its partners, as well as through acquisitions such as Demandware, Mulesoft, Tableau, and most recently Slack.

What is the demand for people with knowledge of Salesforce?

The status of Salesforce as a leading CRM company means that the need for experts who know how to manage, customize the platform and develop applications does not stop growing. In Omega CRM we have experienced this necessity first hand: in the last 3 years the volume of people focused on this technology has grown at a rate of more than 45%. This trend not only continues, but has increased as the range of Salesforce solutions keeps on growing.

Today there are over 30 official Salesforce certifications, aimed at different profiles, and the main question that may arise is: where to start?

Salesforce Developer, step by step

Developer profiles are among the most demanded and thus there are job opportunities for Salesforce developers. Our clients’ necessities go from adapting the standard product to developing mobile applications and web portals to meet specific needs, and everything using the Force.com platform, sharing tools, data models, integrations, etcetera.

There are multiple ways to become a seasoned Salesforce developer and here you will find some ideas on how to achieve it:

  • Create a developer environment: it is free and it has the complete functionality it is free and has full functionality similar to a real client environment. Also, they never expire and all you need to do is provide your name and email address.
  • Become acquainted with the online learning platform Salesforce Trailhead. Like the developer environments, this resource is available for free, the more badges the better (be careful, it can be addictive).
  • Complete the platforms’ overview “trailheads” (short training courses) and programming specifics, study the documentation, participate in forums, practice (a lot)… There is a saying among programmers that says “you will learn to program, ¡programming!” And here I advise attending the official certification preparation courses.
  • Get yourself certified! Yes, it is important, it is an excellent way to make the most out of the time you dedicate to learning, because it will allow you to focus on the key areas, not neglect any details and it will help you to master the entire subject with ease.

Platform Developer I certification

The certification exam is a key piece in the career of a future Salesforce architect and programmer.

Salesforce certifications are highly regarded and cover areas far beyond mere theory: you must have a broad knowledge of the Salesforce platform and demonstrate it in a test that will assess aspects related to both generic and Force.com-specific programming concepts, you must demonstrate that you are capable of creating robust solutions, that you know the development tools and in general, validate that you have the necessary background that will allow you to successfully face your role as Salesforce programmer from the first minute.

ISDI CRM offers the DEX450 training course, which will thoroughly prepare you to obtain the Platform Developer I qualification. This course follows the manufacturer’s official program and has instructors certified by Salesforce itself, it is a hands-on course in which you will have the opportunity to put into practice what you are learning and it is offered both online and in person, you can obtain more information at this link.

We also encourage you to consult the online guide that includes the requirements for this certification.
